Color, Texture, and Rule of Thirds Project

Photography can be frustrating sometimes. It takes a lot of patience and trial-and-error photo-shoots to get the picture you want. But hey! The learning curve is totally worth the time.

It was raining the other day, and I thought how cool it would be to snag some images of water droplets!
"Rain-drop Dome"
This puddle is on top of a 50-gallon storage water barrel. Rain wash from the roof above dripped down, and I had to learn just how fast my camera can take a photo after pressing the shutter button. Eventually I got the timing right and captured this cool, rippled dome caused by the impact of a water drop. I cropped the photo to satisfy the Rule of Thirds better, and did some basic color adjustments.

"Fall leaves on my pool cover."
The two subject leaves are both on convergence points of a RoT's line.

"Water Impact"

"Diving Board Reflection"
I thought the reflection of the diving board was cool, so I did what anybody would do — took a picture of it! The posts of "each" diving board aline with convergences on a Rule of Thirds line.

"The Carpet Troll"
Ok, so my family had all of the house carpet replaced recently, and the new stuff is fluffy and soft, and drawing in it with one's finger is ridiculously fun. So I drew a troll face based on memes that I've seen on the internet. When drawing in carpet the direction of your stroke (in relation to your perspective) determines the tone of the color (if I had taken this picture standing above his head, you would see a light man on a dark background).
